What is the name of the sequence in which each number is the sum of the two preceding ones?
Correct answer Fibonacci Sequence
Fact
Did you know?
The Fibonacci sequence generally starts with 0 and 1, then each term is obtained by adding the previous two: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, etc. Numbers of this sequence appear in certain patterns of plant growth, notably in arrangements of leaves, seeds or spirals. These observations can be explained by mechanisms of development and optimization of space, but they do not concern all organisms or all structures. Spiral galaxies, in particular, do not necessarily follow a golden spiral or a Fibonacci sequence. Calling the sequence a “universal language of nature” transforms real but limited patterns into general law.
