Which Caribbean island is the only natural home of the Black-billed Parrot?
Correct answer Jamaica
Fact
Did you know?
The black-billed amazon, whose scientific name is “Amazona agilis,” is endemic to Jamaica and occurs naturally nowhere else. It mainly inhabits humid mountain forests, including areas in the Blue Mountains and Cockpit Country, where it feeds on fruit, seeds and flowers. Its dark bill helps distinguish it from the yellow-billed amazon, Jamaica’s other endemic amazon parrot. The African grey parrot, sometimes called the grey or Congo grey, is a different species native to parts of central and western Africa. It should not be described as an endemic Jamaican bird.
