Which movement, associated with Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre, focuses on the absurdity of existence?

Correct answer Existentialism

Fact

Did you know?

Existentialism places concrete existence, freedom, responsibility and individual choices at the forefront. Jean-Paul Sartre was one of the main representatives in the 20th century and explicitly defended this name. Albert Camus is often linked to this movement because of his works on the absurd, revolt and the human condition, but he refused to define himself as an existentialist. “The Stranger” and “The Myth of Sisyphus” illustrate his thinking about the absurd. Postmodernism, marked by other authors and by the questioning of grand narratives, therefore did not correspond to the expected response.
