The Onyx is a seasonal stream in the Wright Valley, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica. Fed during the austral summer by meltwater from the lower Wright Glacier, it travels approximately 32 kilometers to Lake Vanda. It is generally presented as the longest river in Antarctica. Its flow heads inland due to the local relief, but it does not change direction depending on the seasons. In winter, temperatures simply cut off the liquid water supply and the stream virtually stops flowing.
