Which Indonesian island gave its name to the Komodo dragon?
Correct answer Komodo
Fact
Did you know?
The Komodo dragon is the largest living lizard: the largest individuals can exceed three meters. It owes its name to the Indonesian island of Komodo, but its natural area is not limited to this island. The species also lives on Rinca, Flores and Gili Motang, in the Lesser Sunda Islands. A powerful predator, it hunts deer in particular and uses a mixture of bite, venom and pursuit. Komodo National Park protects part of its terrestrial and marine habitat, but the species remains vulnerable to range reduction and environmental change.
