Did you know?
The earliest known telescopes appeared in the Netherlands in 1608. In 1609, Galileo built more powerful versions and turned them towards the sky. His observations of the Moon, the phases of Venus and four moons of Jupiter transformed astronomy and supplied major evidence in the debate over heliocentrism.
